The series was developed in autumn 2014, probably the darkest autumn in my life. I had been struggling with severe depression and destructive panic attacks, partly triggered by worrying diagnosis from my eye doctor and neurologist. In order to handle the anxiety attacks, I would go out and wander through the mysterious streets of Oliwa (Gdansk). During that time, I took many walks. After a while, I wanted to register the ambiguous feeling I experienced: on one side a panic concern for my eyesight, on the other side: the appreciation for Oliwa’s dark beauty. This series is about facing the darkness – both the external and the one that is hiding in the soul.
